The Film Festival for Debut Works

The DEBUT22 Film Festival Klosters takes place for the second time at the Kulturschuppen Klosters from September 5th to 8th, 2024. DEBUT22 is a meeting point for filmmakers from around the world, providing an opportunity for an interested and curious audience to discover new films.

Stimulating film discussions with filmmakers and industry professionals are guaranteed. Additionally, there is an opportunity to engage directly with the directors.

Entdecken Sie die Welt des Films. Seien Sie neugierig und lassen Sie sich überraschen. 11 Erstlingsfilme aus aller Welt führen uns durch vier Kontinente: Besuchen Sie den Ecuadorianischen Urwald und seine Geister, fühlen Sie mit zwei Italienischen Jugendlichen wenn sie ihre Liebe finden, lernen Sie ein abgelegenes Dorf in den Abruzzen kennen, deren Bewohner uns näher stehen als wir glauben. Beobachten Sie was die Jugend in Tolyatti, Russland so treibt und verfolgen sie ein spannendes Versteckspiel in der Ukraine. Sehen Sie, wie es Migranten im Iran ergeht und werden Sie wütend über die Geschehnisse während des Volksaufstandes in Kairo. Und freuen Sie sich zum Abschluss mit Tomi aus dem Congo, dem nach 10 Jahren im Gefängnis nur Gutes widerfährt.

Petra Auer geboren in Grüsch, Schauspielerin und Moderatorin stellt Ihnen die Filme und Filmemacher:innen vor und führt jeweils nach der Vorstellung durch die Filmgespräche.

DEBUT22 Review

The first edition of the DEBUT22 Film Festival Klosters took place as part of the celebrations for Klosters’ 800th anniversary and was a resounding success. From 339 submissions, 11 outstanding debut works of great quality from around the world were selected.

The first DEBUT22 Film Award was presented to Gabriela Calvache for the film “La Mala Noche.” In addition to the prize money, the director is now invited to be an Artist in Residence in Klosters for four weeks.

The DEBUT22 Film Festival was opened in the presence of director Sabine Boss. Her debut work, the classic “Ernstfall in Havanna,” was shown. The invited guests and the numerous local audience visibly enjoyed the refreshments, the almost sold-out performance, and the first exciting film discussion, led by our moderator Petra Auer.

This was followed by a diverse program of debut works that enthralled, touched on important themes, and sparked discussions that needed attention.
